If you have a
Palm device (I have an old
Treo 600) there is some Bulgarian language software available for it from LingvoSoft
http://www.lingvosoft.com/Bulgarian-items/
I bought the dictionary on the basis that an electronic речник would be easier to carry around than a 2kg Gaberoff. Nice idea, but it didn't work. Cyrillic on the Treo's display looks decidedly low-resolution and un-slick. It is hard to use and very fiddly. It also produces only limited results, unlike the paper rechniks or internet online dictionaries. As a result I never used it. A good idea, but poor implementation and a waste of money!
I also downloaded their BG flashcard demo - not bad for learning a few words while stuck on the bus or waiting for restaurant food to arrive, but the vocabulary is a bit computer-orientated.
The small screen and fixed-size small text don't help either. Maybe a non-Treo device might give a better experience but I doubt it.
I found that using sa.dir.bg on a
Blackberry was a much better experience :-)
but then you get ripped off by international data charges whilst in BG (completely incomprehensible charging structure btw - last year I used a Blackberry every day for 17 days and was charged just 3 random amounts - go figure! as the yanks say)
