Wow! To be honest, up to now I only associated the name Boris Hristov with the famous opera singer. It looks like this guy is still considered a talented poet and he certainly had a good career during the communist era, which unfortunately immediately rings a bad bell in my mind. However, I realise that writers had to work within horrible constraints if they wanted to have a career at all and that I am naturally overly-negative about the heritage from those years. However, after reading some glowing criticism about him from the present day, I read a couple of his poems and while not downright bad, they didn't move me at all, which is quite rare for me. But this is only a very superficial glance and I would make it a point to keep an open mind and have a better look. What is your impression of him as a person?
He was one of those older men that you know IS someone, he creates an atmosphere around him, the colours sharpen up a bit... he was deeply interested in our house and the philosophy behind it, and his interest grips you. Would love to see him read his own poetry even if I didn't understand it
