BOTH mean "I like them"

Can you do his reversible thing with any old verb or just a select handful ?

But why do they mean the same? I though the first one was 'they like me' can you explain the rule?

"Харесвам ги" is the equivalent of "I like them".

"харесват ми" is the equivalent of "they appeal to me"

Different shades of meaning - in the first example I perform the action of liking a certain object, in the second the object performs the action of appealing to me. In English this is done by two different verbs, in Bulgarian - by two meanings of the same verb.
